New RHS Bursary for Trainee Horticulturists
The Royal Horticultural Society (RHS) is pleased to announce the launch of the Susan Pearson Bursary . This new award will provide sponsorship of up to £10,000, for a trainee horticulturist to undertake a year’s practical work-experience at a recognised Garden - open to the public.
Endowed by Dr Henry Pearson in memory of his late wife, Susan, the bursary will give individuals the opportunity to gain practical skills in plantsmanship and all aspects of garden and estate management while working at an established Garden. The application can be made either by the individual or Garden that is offering the work-experience place.
Each year the RHS offers a number of bursaries to assist horticulturists, student gardeners and serious amateur gardeners in financing specific projects, including overseas travel. During 2009 the RHS awarded over £71,800 towards 67 different projects.
